Dream of Betrayal Turns Deadly: Brother Kills Brother Over ‘Shot in a Dream’ Accusation in Sepeteri

SEPETERI, OYO STATE – A chilling incident of alleged fratricide has rocked Sepeteri, where a 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, stands accused of killing his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu (52), following a bizarre accusation that the deceased had shot him in a dream. The Oyo State Police Command is currently investigating the tragic event.

The incident was reported to the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters by Badmus Yunisa of Alegunlode Compound, Sepeteri. According to the report, Lateef Suleiman attacked his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, after claiming that Amidu had shot him in a dream the previous night while he was asleep.

Acting on this dream-induced accusation, Suleiman allegedly approached his brother, who was seated, picked up a heavy rock, and struck him on the head before immediately fleeing the scene. The victim was promptly rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri for medical attention, but was tragically confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty.

Upon receiving the report, a team of Police Operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Amodu Division, visited both the scene of the incident and the hospital as part of preliminary investigative procedures. The suspect, Lateef Suleiman, has since been arrested and has reportedly confessed to the crime. He is currently cooperating with investigators.

In light of the gravity of the case, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna, has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet and comprehensive investigation. The Command assures the public that justice will be pursued diligently and in accordance with the law.
