Fatal Accident in Ibadan: Truck Driver at Large After Deadly Crash Claims Two Lives

IBADAN, OYO STATE – A tragic road accident involving a Mack truck and multiple tricycles in Ibadan has resulted in the deaths of a man and a woman, with two others sustaining injuries. The driver of the truck, belonging to Bovas Oil, is currently at large, prompting a full investigation by the Oyo State Police Command.

Preliminary findings indicate that the incident occurred when the Mack truck lost control while in motion from the Beere area, subsequently crashing along the Oje Market axis. The uncontrolled vehicle caused extensive damage, impacting five tricycles and a Toyota Camry car, in addition to the human casualties.

Immediately following the accident, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Mapo Division to coordinate with other security agencies to manage the situation. In a swift response, the DPO mobilized to the scene, overseeing the rescue and evacuation of the injured victims to a hospital. The deceased were moved to the mortuary, and all affected properties were secured at the police station for safekeeping.

The Oyo State Police Command has launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Concerted efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing truck driver and bring him to justice.

Members of the public are urged to remain calm and cooperate with the Police by providing any useful information that could aid ongoing investigations. The Command also reiterated the critical importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations to prevent such avoidable loss of lives on the roads.
